5 hours was all I could manage and believe me it was less than 5

On one fine day I decided to work on my own android app. Being a developer this was something I was trying to explore since long. I decided my niche, picked up my notebook planner and wrote down all the essentials that I was about to work on for next 20 days. The two things that was utmost needed while developing an app was Graphics and writing the code for the app. Being a developer code was like poetry to me. But never did I got a chance to work on Graphics full time at my own(apart from resizing images and banners for website). I have had worked around with my graphics team to create wonder as and when needed but this was something I was about to do all at my own.

“Necessity is the mother of invention”

So as they say “Necessity is the mother of invention” there comes a need to create my own Icons, images and logo for the android app I was working on. As I received updated mail about the recent change in policies for graphical content by google for android developers account. I thought of taking the complete binge of app in my own hand. I was all determined that it might gonna take at least a week or more for me to get into it in depth and learn what i need to create those attractive graphic icons and a high end android app. During this time I got to learn a lot about: What differentiate Vector graphics from Raster graphics. What are different color types(CMYK, RBG, Pantone colors) used for.

As I had my interest in doodling and art way back from elementary school days it wasn't much of a challenge as to how to draw, what to draw and where to start from. Being a developer it also helped me to define and collect what type of icons, images and graphics I will need for my app.

With all this in mind I started looking for tutorials and what not that could help me learn the needed at the earliest. I was having all the tool, zeal and motive to dive into the work needed to up-skill myself for the needed task. So I looking around for the easiest available option without spending a single penny. What can be better than YouTube that is easily available across all your devices as and when needed, no matter you are travelling or in a metro or subway you got a ample time to learn with the app you have handy all the time.

To create any image graphics/icons/figures all we need is understanding of shapes and figures. Once learnt all we need is to dive into our imaginary world and create the needed and so did I. I logged in to YouTube on my PC and Created a handful of playlist that helped me to learnt the Vector graphics in less than 5 hours of time.

Following is the playlist that I worked on(Requirement: you need to have adobe Illustrator in your PC and basic knowledge of shapes):

  1. Creating shape vectors in Adobe Illustrator Ep8/19 [Adobe Illustrator for Beginners]

2. How to Split Shapes | Illustrator CC Tutorial

3. How to Duplicate Objects Around a Circle | Illustrator Tutorial

4. How to Work with 3D Effects | Adobe Illustrator

5. Create Simple Icons | Illustrator Tutorial

6. How to make Semi flat 3D icons & UI design — Illustrator Advanced Training

7. Design Process : Drawing and Animating Flat Icons

8. Animating Vector Scene in Adobe Animate CC

9.Design Adaptive Icons using Google Material Design Guidelines — Illustrator CC 2018 Tutorial

10. Learn How to Draw 8 Vector Music Icons in Adobe Illustrator | Dansky

Of course this was followed up by two to 3 hours of practice for next 7 planned days but here I was all ready to create the much needed graphics for my upcoming android app. Let me know if this was helpful to you. Leave a clap if this helped you in any manner. Have a great time. :-)
